About Kindred Spirits & Wine - Shelton, CT in Shelton, CT 06484

The year was 2004. Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps, was winning eight medals in Athens, Connecticut’s own Paul Giamatti was getting snubbed by the Academy (he didn’t even receive a nomination for his wine country movie Sideways), and prohibition was 71 years in the rearview mirror. Meanwhile, in Monroe, Myron Moore and John Hillgen purchased their first wine store called Stepney Wine & Spirits. After a successful first year in Monroe, a new opportunity was presented and in 2005, Black Rock Wine & Spirits was opened in Fairfield.

Over the next decade, the stores in Monroe and Fairfield consistently offered an informed, customer friendly experience while providing a complete selection of fine wine, brew-tiful beers, and superior spirits.

In 2016, the timing was right and the opportunity arose for Moore and Hillgen to grow their business once again. October saw the acquisition of a store in Westport previously known as Bottlerocket. The opening of the third store inspired the creation of our new name, Kindred Spirits & Wine. In August of 2017, a new Kindred Spirits & Wine opened in Shelton. 

Kindred Spirits & Wine is proud to be locally owned and operated by Fairfield County residents. We continue to offer fine wines, craft beers and spirits from around the world.
